    The Iguaçu National Park (PARNA Iguaçu) is a Federal Conservation Unit (UC) that aims to protect one of the most significant remnants of the Atlantic Forest in South America, stage for the spectacle of the Iguaçu River Falls and home to important species of the Brazilian biodiversity.

The management of Federal CUs is carried out by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), which operates based on the National System of Nature Conservation Units (SNUC). The SNUC was created by Federal Law No. 9,985, on July 18, 2000, and aims to define norms for the creation, implementation and management of conservation units at the federal, state and municipal levels.
