First gained my Novice license as a 15 year old in 1980, VK2VVF. While at Uni I let that call lapse and when I got it back I got VK2MGL. In about 1992, I did my AOCP theory and got VK2KVF. Again it lapsed (a couple of times). This year (2018), I managed to snag VK2MG and paid for five years to avoid having this slightly rarer callsign lapse. I am thoroughly enjoying participating in WWFF.
