The WWFF Committee are pleased to announce the upcoming launch of a new award for Activators… the WWFF Activator Points Award.
This will launch on 2020-01-01 00:00:01utc – only QSOs made on or after this time shall be valid for the new award (but, obviously are valid for the other WWFF awards.
This will have two objectives:
- To encourage longer activations (beyond the default 44 QSOs)
- To encourage return activations
Points will be awarded, annually, as follows:
- For achieving the 44 QSO quorum at each reference
- For achieving additional QSO quotas at each reference
Additional points will be awarded for each DX Entity that an activator activates from. For this purpose, the existing WWFF interpretation will apply, and therefore each KFF state and VEFF/VKFF territory counts as a DX Entity.
Important note: The existing “unique references” activator award (WWFF-A) is unaffected by this, and will run in parallel.
Example
In this example, 200 QSOs is used as the threshold for bonus points… this is subject to change.
- Activates ZZFF-9001 but does not qualify with only 34 QSOs.
No points are awarded. - Activates ZZFF-9002 and qualifies the reference with 44 QSOs.
Awarded points for the reference, and additional points for the DX entity. - Returns to ZZFF-9001 and gains the extra 10 QSOs to qualify.
Awarded points for the reference. - Activates ZZFF-9003 (in a different state) and qualifies the reference with 200(*) QSOs.
Awarded points for the reference, additional points for the high QSO-count, and additional points for the new DX entity. - Returns to ZZFF-9001 and gains the extra 156(*) QSOs to qualify for the bonus points.
- In the new year, re-activates ZZFF-9002 and qualifies the reference with 44 QSOs.
As it is a new year, awarded points for the reference, and additional points for the DX entity. - etc…

Interesting proposal!
I understand that there will still be a new ranking for this, given that the activities start from 01.01.2020 and do not specify when it ends.
For an activator, it just needs to send the log. The points earned will be accounted for by Andrew’s program. Let’s hope!
Good luck!

A great incentive to conduct more QSO from each FF-reference.
But there are some significant remarks followed by my suggestions, last of these remarks, 6th, is most annoying one.
1. Points, points, points… What is about Section “2.4 How does WWFF work?” of Global Rules, stating: “WWFF operates on the accrual of WWFF reference areas. It is not a point based system”?
My suggestion: NO suggestions

2. If I understood correctly, these conditions stimulate only a bit higher amount of QSO (200 in the explaining example) compared to the current minimum of 44 QSO — reaching this threshold at once no longer gives an incentive to return to the place again in the same year for even more amount QSO.
My suggestion: to add extra points for 200 (*) not once, but every time when a multiple threshold is reached — for 200 (*), 2×200 (*), 3×200 (*) and so on.

Very close to remark 2 and tightly related to remark 2:
3. If reaching the 200(*) QSO threshold occurs in 2 or more steps (returns), most QSO during subsequent returns will simply duplicate QSOs made during previous activations — that is, simply repeat QSO with just the same, most active hunters. It does not add value of subsequent activator’s returns to the same FF-reference for the rest of hunters.
My suggestion: to count not just any QSO, including duplicate ones, but only unique correspondents. Of course, if you do not take in mind a separate awarding/endorsements for different bands and/or modes.

5. This award is designed to stimulate activators. But what can or will motivate hunters to conduct new and new QSO (excluding goodwill to support an activator during his outing) with FF references over and over, if they already have a few QSO in the previous period and the FF-reference is already extra credited? Especially when it comes to FF references, where many thousands of QSO have been already conducted in previous years.
My suggestion: NO suggestions

it starts new at jan.01, so anyhow if there were thousands of contacts before, it gives you new points in 2020 and again in 2021 and again…

Manfred, I see.
Probably, some mutual misunderstanding appears here.
This award is for activators, they will earn “new points” exclusively for it in new year, conducting QSO from the references that have been activated many times before.
But what is the interest in this for hunters? Why should they conduct new QSO with references already credited for them many times before?
Manfred Meier said:
I think the main-problem is not that so many references have thousands of contacts, there are a lot outside which were activated only once or twice only for a limited time. So lot of hunters didn´t have the fair chance to get them at all. This is the idea behind, because lot of activators don´t go where someone else set his footprint. And of course motivate the activator not only to make 44 contacts insteed making probably several hundred.

4. If you will do not take into account double, triple, etc. repeated QSO with the same correspondent, which add value to no one, then obvious — it becomes increasingly difficult to overcome each next threshold.
My suggestion: each successive threshold for the same FF-reference should bring a proportionately increased number of extra points. For example: 44 QSO +1, 200(*) QSO +1, 2×200(*) QSO +2, 3×200(*) QSO +3 and so on.

this will be, however in different steps

And finally, the most annoying moment —
————
6. If each US State and each Canadian province is considered a separate territory for a bonus point, then why is there such neglect of the Russian Federation entities and Australian States (not DXCC territories), each of which deserves no less attention?
Otherwise, why does each US State and each Canadian province deserve such special outstanding attention, despite the fact that separate RF entities and the Australian States (not DXCC territories) have not got such attention?
My suggestion: do not count each separate US State and Canadian province in full accordance with the DXCC list, or, along with separate US States and Canadian provinces, also count as sepate territory for a bonus point every Australian State and every RF Entity. Both options are fair. The initial proposed variant of territory count is not fair and equal.

Hi Vit
Finally decision depends on how Andrew can make the program!
On 44-DXFF award I wrote”
“That XX1XXXX
has submitted proof of the required number of 44 stations worked in different DXCC entities, states of USA, provinces of Canada, Russian federal districts or states/territory in Australia, from same reference in no more as 3 activation (72 hours).
This is hereby presented in recognition of the outstanding achievement.”
But no many in EU made condition to take this award !
