10th Anniversary Activity Weekend

In November 2012, the World Wide Flora and Fauna in amateur radio program was born, when a number of dedicated portable radio operators decided to establish WWFF from the remains of WFF.

A website was created and most importantly at that phase, Andrew M0MYA shared his expertise to build a very intuitive WWFF LogSearch database.

Rules were written, awards were created, and a number of leading activators joined to develop and grow the WWFF program.

Starting with a core group of mainly European countries more and more countries across the world joined the program. Currently we have 59 countries that run there own national program within WWFF. National coordinators supported by log, directory and award managers run their programs based on WWFF rules.

Our database contains more than 31,000 references in 144 countries across the world and until now more than 17 million QSOs!

As WWFF was established in November 2012, therefore we celebrate its 10th birthday with a big activity party – note: this is NOT a contest!

The WWFF 10th Anniversary Activity Weekend

On Saturday the 19th and Sunday 20th of November, WWFF Team would like to invite all WWFF Activators and Hunters to participate in the WWFF 10th Anniversary Activity Weekend.

  • The party will start at 00:01 UTC on November 19th and finish at 23:59 UTC on November 20th.
  • We hope many WWFF Activators will be on the air from many WWFF areas. We also hope many WWFF Hunters will work them.
  • We recommend all Activators to use the WWFF Agenda and the WWFF Facebook Group to inform the WWFF Hunter community of their plans.
  • After the activity weekend the Activators have to send in their logs to the log manager responsible for the areas they activated, as usual. The deadline for sending in logs to count towards this special event is November 27th.
  • To facilitate the special award processing we ask the activators – especially when using vanity calls or group calls – to make sure the operator field in their logs is populated with their home callsign.
  • The deadline for sending in the logs is November 27th. The log uploaders then have a week to check and upload the logs. By December 3 we will start generating the awards based on the available data in WWFF LogSearch.

Participation Awards

On December 4th WWFF will publish awards for Activators and Hunters.

WWFF turns 10 years old

!

In 2012, after a series of consultations, it was decided to transform what was “WFF” into the new formula, that of “WWFF”

On the WWFF website you can find information about the actions that will take place on this occasion. https://wwff.co/2022/09/10th-anniversary-activity-weekend/

The YOFF group collaborated, both in the development of the program, and with a set of diplomas that were and are issued to those who participate in the WWFF programs.

On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, YOFF offers a set of diplomas for the participants from November 19 – 20, 2022 to the “weekend activity WWFF” regardless of the country they are from.

Thus, for those who will activate (Activator)  protected areas will be the following:  Novice Class with 2 activated areas; Standard Class with 4 activated zones and Expert Class with 6 activated zones. From each activated zone, a minimum of 44 QSOs must be made between November 19, 2022 at 00:00 UTC until November 20, 2022 at 23:59 UTC.

For those who will seek to work on those from the protected areas (Hunter) there will be the following: Novice Class for 10 different areas; Standard Class for 20 different areas and Expert Class for 30 different areas. A special diploma will be awarded to the station with the most protected areas worked during the “weekend activity WWFF”

We hereby invite you to try to leave the house, for a few hours, together with a radio equipment and activate one or more protected areas from the WWFF list. Not only in this “WWFF activity weekend” but also on any other occasion. If you have done this, do not forget to send the log with the connections made, in ADIF format, to fenyo3jwATyahoo.com

On the site  wff-yo.blogspot.com you can find a lot of information, you just have to view it!

Get Your Park ON! Celebrating Earth Science Week (10/8 – 10/16)

The fourth annual operating event, Get your Park On! Celebrating Earth Science Week will occur October 8-16, 2022. The event is open to all WWFF Activators and Hunters and is sponsored by the U.S. (KFF) affiliate of World Wide Flora and Fauna (WWFF).

This year again will be an International event inviting all Activators through the world to participate. Hunters everywhere are invited to search out and contact Activators everywhere, making this truly a worldwide, DX event.

Get Your Park ON! will start October 8 at 0000 UTC and run through October 16 at 2359 UTC. These dates include the full weekends on each side of Earth Science Week.

This year will include Get Your Park ON! Celebrating Earth Science Week Special Event Stations (GYPO SES). These stations will be active from KFF parks throughout the week operating with 1×1 callsigns, e.g., N5G. Hunters are encouraged to work as many of these Special Event Stations as possible, with special recognition given to those working ten or more.

A complete list of the Special Event Stations has been posted on WWFF and WWFF-KFF Facebook pages. Their operating plans and schedules will be posted on their individual QRZ pages.

Since October 1998, the American Geosciences Institute has organized Earth Science Week, a national and international event. They do this to help the public gain a better understanding and appreciation for the Earth sciences and to encourage stewardship of the Earth, a common goal shared by World Wide Flora and Fauna. Both programs encourage their participants to get outside and enjoy nature.

More information on rules, web sites, awards, etc. can be found on wwff.us.
