New WWFF structure

In recent months, a lot of hard work has been going on behind the scenes with regards to the restructure of the WWFF organisation.  I am pleased to report that we now have a WWFF Constitution which outlines the aims of WWFF, the rules by which WWFF will operate, & powers and duties of its officers.  The constitution can be view on the ‘About’ page.

The WWFF Committee shall be comprised of up to 9 elected officials and 6 ex-officio members.

Our new Committee structure:

  • Paul VK5PAS (Chairperson)
  • Jason W3AAX (Deputy Chairperson)
  • Lars PH0NO (Treasurer)
  • Nobi JA1JCF (Asia representative)
  • Jakob OZ7AEI (Europe representative)
  • Peter VK3ZPF (Oceania representative)
  • Jason W3AAX (North America representative)
  • Pit YO3JW (Awards Manager)
  • Luciano I5FLN (Directory Manager)
  • Manfred DF6EX (Log Manager)
  • Andrew MYMA (Logsearch Administrator)
  • Danny ON4VT (webmaster & PR)

The position of Secretary is still being organised.

As a committee we shall conduct meetings via Skype or similar, not less than 6 times per year to discuss WWFF issues.  We do of course, regularly liaise with each other via email.

WWFF Logsearch Update

An update to Logsearch has just been released:

  • The next step in the P2P awards (P2P-A-264)
  • The next step in OMFF awards (OMFF-A-50 and OMFF-H-50)
  • Latest Logs now displays 100 (was 44) latest
  • Layout improvements in the References search results
  • Layout improvements in the Directory Stats tables
  • A number of minor bugs

Any problems, or new feature requests, via the Help Desk Forum please.

Paul VK5PAS was the only candidate, and is therefore elected as Chairman

AS Continental Rep

13 valid votes were received.  Nobi JA1JCF was a clear winner.

EU Continental Rep

80 valid votes were received.  Jakob OZ7AEI was a clear winner.

NA Continental Rep

Jason W3AAX is elected unopposed.

Peter VK3ZPF is elected unopposed.

Logsearch update 2017-01-30

The latest update to Logsearch brings the following new features:

  • The launch of the OMFF Awards, with entry level (10 reference) certificates
  • The support of the 1.25m (220MHz) band
  • The support for THOR digital QSOs

Most importantly, with the imminent start of the WWFF Elections, a custom Election module has been added… more on this on Wednesday 🙂

Another Logsearch Update

As an update to last week’s news, I am pleased to announce further updates and improvements to the Reference Activation Statistics are now available in “new” Logsearch.

This update includes the addition of several further programs, and the inclusion of the Unactivated reports.

Secondly, this update extends the Top Operator reports to 100 operators (from 44).

Furthermore, this update will include the addition of awards from two further programs – which deserves an announcement of its own…

WWFF Reference Activation Statistics

Announcing the third update in three days, I am pleased to advise that the Reference Activation Statistics are now available in “new” Logsearch.

Note: the All-Programs/All-Time report lists 13,249 activated references, and as such is quite slow to load… and at 7MB is quite a bandwidth consumer, so I may remove this one!

Some improvements in layout will follow, as will the inclusion of the Unactivated report.

WWFF Top Operators

I am pleased to report that, after much deliberation and experimentation, we have overcome the problems that have prevented the reliable generation of the Top Operator pages.

As such, these should now again be generated overnight (UTC).

Thanks to Manfred DF6EX for his assistance!

Note: the results do not (at present) differentiate between single-operator and club-stations.  I hope to resolve this in due course.

As before, these are intended to be indicative, and are not intended to be definitive – they work by aggregating the OPERATOR and HUNTER fields within logs… so activators, when using a club- or special-event callsign, please remember to correctly populate the OPERATOR field!
