A request for assistance!

Over the past year (or so), I’ve completely re-written WWFF Logsearch as a WordPress plugin, to integrate within this main WWFF.CO website. This has mostly been completed… however, the ToDo list (for completion, but especially for new features) remains quite long and I just do not have much spare time…

So I am looking for a suitable competent person (or persons) to help with further Logsearch development – or maybe to take it over completely?!

Skills required are:

  • WordPress development
    • Strong PHP
    • MySQL
    • CSS
    • Javascript
  • Site-security and data-protection are essential to maintain confidence in the program.

Note: this is not something for a “hobby hacker”!

Busy activation from PAFF-0055, using the special call PA44FF.

I wrote about my experiences on my blog (see link). In short: 296 calls logged from 39 DXCC. 3 P2P. 99% EU but some DX including JA. 20m was quite okay for EU, 40m was one big contest QRM hell.

5x8c_wwffI have been a volunteer with MSF for 13 years and help with their telecommunications. I answer questions, find solutions, do training and some projects. Most of the telecom work is done in the field by local ITC specialists, and we give an annual course to those who wish; one week of informatics and a week of telecommunications. This course will be held in Entebbe, Uganda for several years.

Since obtaining an Uganda license is not a problem, I visited the ministery of telecommunication in Kampala in 2015 and was helped to get the call 5X8C

Just before I left in 2016, I discovered that part of  site in Entebbe where we give courses was within a Wildlife Resort and I asked for the WWFF reference. Within a few days, I received the good news that it was reference 5XFF-0011 and I was allowed to activate it! Continue reading →

9w2ndq_wwffI would like to inform WWFF hunters that from 3-7 december 2016 my team SELANGORDX will depart form Kuala Lumpur city for dxpedition to Royal Belum 9MFF-0030

Thank you for your cooperation during my dxpedition. I hope all WWFF fan will be alert formy CQ from Royal Belum..

 

The Royal Belum State Park is a huge park in the northern parts of Peninsular Malaysia. It is part of the even bigger Belum-Temengor Forest Complex (BTFC) that is shared with Thailand. Together with Taman Negara National Park it is one of the oldest rainforest in the world, going back over 130 million years. Belum is a state park and not an official National Park. This means that local government is allowed to use the area for production forest and it is open for future development. There are efforts to get the government to recognize Belum as a national park, though up till now only a part of the huge forest is conserved and protected as state park. Belum has the potential to become one of Malaysia’s premier eco-tourism destinations.
